President's Message

I am William Munro and it is my pleasure to welcome you to our Web site. If you live in the Midlands area within easy reach of RAF Cosford you are welcome to attend our meetings at The Summer House on the A464 Holyhead Road near to the RAF Cosford Base. We meet on the 2nd Tuesday of the month.

Objects
The objects of the association shall be promote and protect the interests of our members and to bring together in mutual friendship those who served their National Service in the R.A.F. to establish and maintain links with the Royal Air Force and other like organisations. The annual membership subscription is presently set at £1 payable to our Membership Secretary at any of our meetings when you will be issued with a membership card.

Branch Subscriptions 2008.

Branch members are reminded that annual subscriptions are now due. (1st January 2008)

Any member whose annual subscription remains unpaid at 31st March in any year, will be deemed to have resigned from membership of the Association (per Constitution) and thereafter would not be entitled to receive a copy of the branch Newsletter and would be struck off the membership list. All subscriptions should be paid to Ron Abbot, Membership Secretary.

As of 1st January 2009, the membership subscription will be £5.00. per year. This increase was proposed and seconded at the AGM on 12th February 2008 and passed by an overwhelming majority by the members.


Activities

Visits to venues with RAF connections such as Cosford Air Show on 1st June this year and parade and reunion on 22nd June; this year we have made visits to Shawbury, Duxford, Lynham and the Cosford Cold War Museum. At our meetings we have speakers who cover a wide range of subjects. We also attend anniversaries and ceremonies such as Westminster Abbey commorating the Battle of Britain The Runnymede Commonwealth War Memorial with a visit planned to the Alrewas National Memorial site in the near future. Last year we were represented at The Cenotaph Remembrance Parade.
